Chef Kate Rench

Chef Kate Rench, like many great chefs I know was an artist before she began to pursue the art of fine cuisine. After earning her degree in fine arts, she worked in kitchens to support her career as a sculptor, and she tells the story of how she was day standing in Boulder Colorado’s Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery flipping burgers one day and it struck her that she could satisfy her passion for creativity with the culinary arts! She packed up and went to France in February of 98 – after graduating from the French Culinary Institute with the Jacques Pepin award, she began her new career at the VERY famous Jean-Georges four star restaurant in Manhattan.

Chef Kate realized her dream there... with delicate French-Asian fusion and its innovative techniques. After several more years and many accolades in the Northeast, she moved back to the serenity of Steamboat Springs and the serenity of the Rockies. After six months cooking at Café Diva, Kate was offered the Executive Chef position and... eventually, partnership. Her new menu has raised eyebrows of food connoisseurs across this country through her fresh, succulent cuisine, and tons of wine to back it all up. Since expanding the restaurant (they started with four tables) Café Diva has moved to the pinnacle of dining in Colorado, yet remains quaint in its destination, the Northern Rockies. Chef Kate enjoys continues to enjoy her life and culinary career, with her husband, Craig and two dogs Mason and Milena.
